While we were on this summer’s road trip, we found ourselves in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Yes, I’ve got family there, but it was also an excuse to go visit our friends at Advanced-RV!
We didn’t really have an agenda – we weren’t there for any mods or anything – though we have done that before. We just wandered around their new factory and talked with Mike for a while. But we kept the cameras rolling (Thanks, Mitchell!), and this video is the result.
As a custom RV manufacturer, Advanced RV is always an interesting place to visit. Since they’re driven by customer requests and unconstrained by a typical production line or dealer network, they tend to get involved in really interesting stuff. If someone asks them for a super-quiet air conditioner… they’ll find one. Someone orders in-floor heating… they’ll make it happen. Mil-spec paint job? Done. A washer/dryer inside a B-van? Incinerating toilets? If anyone has taken a serious look into these kinds of things, it’s probably the folks at Advanced RV. So just wandering around their facility has the potential to be really interesting.
I can’t tell you about the teleportation device they’re working on*, but the video is entertaining all the same. A big thanks to Mike and all the team at Advanced RV for letting us crash their workday and making us feel welcome as always.

Anyone like them in Pacific Northwest you would recommend?
There are a couple that come to mind – Outside Vans, for one – but we don’t have any personal experience with them to make a recommendation on.
Thanks again. I’ve watched all of your videos on Advanced RV and they have really come a long way. They have always been an elite manufacturer but four day work weeks, allowing their team members to build out technologies and manufacturing techniques was impressive. They are in a league of their own and it doesn’t sound as if they will ever stop evolving.
I feel like I could use a four day work week myself…
Good video of the tour! -48Volts DC is good choice for battery voltage, its been in use for over a 100 years in the Telephone industry especially in the Central Offices and outside plant cabinets and -24 Volts DC in the cellular Node B cell tower sites. Nice clean facility with latest gear to bend metal and wood. Looks like everything is custom handmade, what models do they make and is it just on the Benz chassis?
They make Class Bs, on mainly the Sprinter chassis. They also make the B-Box, also on the Sprinter… though they’re not opposed to using a Ford if a customer wants one.
That’s the cleanest manufacturing plant I’ve ever seen!!
