Back at the Outdoor Retailer show this summer, we learned about a new headlamp from LED Lenser. It seems that you always need a headlamp at one time or another in the RV, so why not get a good one? We liked this one so much, we got one for ourselves, and I put it up against our old Coleman headlamp at the end of the video. Check it out.
So here are the key points that earned this head lamp a place in our RV:
- Incredibly bright, as you can see in the test. 220 lumens!
- Does NOT require a separate battery pack on your head
- Rechargeable with a standard USB cable
- You can use AAA batteries if you forget to charge it
- Focusable from flood to spotlight
- 5 year warranty!
Other than that, there’s not much more to say. It’s a headlamp, and a darn good one. If you can’t find the headlamp locally, you can always buy the LED Lenser SEO7R on Amazon. You can see it in action in the video, and this really is our new go-to headlamp in our RV, Lance.

I thought your outside night time test was good but I thought you would have remembered the #1- guy test statement…”Heaven knows no fury like a woman scorned” Ha! Just jump right into my RV the beer is always cold and don’t forget to get out there pal and get some flowers so you can have a blanket or two when you are sleeping with the dog inside the dog house. I have spent 39 out of 40 years in there…ha! Plenty of room for another! The post is a bit late but I just got lights inside the dog house but I could only afford the Coleman…ha!

I can feel your pain bro! When I said I do I should have said I have no idea what you are talking my dear! Ha! The best part of the trouble part is the making up and with that it’s a guy thing as we will stay in trouble just to have the make up! Just a guy thing and as for me I’m the USA #1 Male always in trouble…just my plan…ha!
Not sure if I would get use to the headlight LED. I bought some emchanics gloves once with LEDs in them. Yep the marketing team caught me. Totally useless:-)
Is it the headlight in general? Or LEDs specifically? I’ve been using headlamps for years for hiking at dusk/dawn, etc. so that was no big deal. The brightness of the SEO7R however, IS a big deal. You’d want to be careful not to point it at someone’s face!

James, about the travato ? What do you know about towing. Winnebago claims 3500 lb, pleasure way 2500 lb same frame.
The hitch is 3500 lbs for certain. But how much you can tow depends on how loaded the RV is.
Have you seen the post on towing with a small motorhome? You can look at an RV on the lot and get the numbers off the required stickers. Then you’ll know what the real tradeoffs are.
I haven’t run the numbers on our Travato because we never intend to tow with it. (It’s one of the benefits of the Class B – no need to tow!)
