Hey everyone! I’m finally putting up some of our footage from the California RV show in Pomona.
If you’ve seen our Review of the Leisure Travel Vans Unity 24 IB, you might remember that one of the things we didn’t like about it was the table. Well when we caught up with Dean at the Pomona show, it turns out he had seen the video as well. He wanted to let us know that there were some options for the table that we weren’t aware of. We have those details in the video.
But that wasn’t all Leisure Travel Vans brought to the show. They also brought the 2014 Unity 24CB – which had a super large outdoor storage area that I thought might be good for bikes.
And have you ever noticed that no RV manufacturer EVER shows you their motorhome with the slides IN? Well we got Dean to bring the slide in on the 2014 Unity Murphy Bed, and you can see that in the video as well. (There’s actually more room than I thought there would be.)
There’s also a new Free Spirit type model that they don’t even have up on their website yet. Dual Sliding Doors! A lot of people might think this would be an ultimate touring coach, but I just kept thinking about using it for bicycle races…
Finally, we got to experiment with the Power Sofa on the Free Spirit SS – to see if the bed could go down with the slide in.
This isn’t a detailed review like our last one, because the Leisure Travel Vans crew was far too busy to get down and dirty like that. But I hope you like some of the interesting footage and the 2014 models.

I’m seriously considering a Leisure Van for my next RV. We currently have a Roadtrek 190. We’ve learned we want a shower, a dedicated bed and a dedicated dinning area. We’re leaning towards the Unity Corner Bed, Libero or Serenity. One question I have for you is you said you took the measurement of the outside storage on the corner bed model. What were the dimensions?
I just looked through the notes I had, and I don’t have the dimensions written down anymore. But what I CAN tell you is that it wasn’t big enough for a bike. My standard “bike dimensions” are 60 inches long, 40 inches high, and 25 inches wide. So it was smaller than that. It is big enough to get a human into though – even a full size adult one. Sorry I can’t be more specific! I’ll see if I can find out for you though.
Well, I just heard back. The compartment is 44″w x 21″d x 28″h. Not big enough for my bikes, but hopefully big enough for what you need!

Looks like LTV have modified the sofa a little, as it now can go flat with the slide in. No, the extra-length footer cannot be extended with the slide in, but the bed is long enough for me (5’8″) to get some kip before a race without having to extend the slide.
Bike storage remains an issue…….
You may be interested in this idea I was pitching to Dean last week…
The Free Spirit SS is built on a 22 foot Sprinter. But MB makes a 24 foot extended Sprinter as well. It’s just 16 inches or so linger in the back. If they built an SS exactly the same, but built it on the extended chassis; there would be an extra 16 inches in the trunk more than what’s already there. Bam. There’s our bike storage. I think they could do it without too much effort, and it would work. What do you think?

Thanks for showing the bed with the slide in. Can the bed unfold entirely if the chrome railing was removed and the screen door retracted?
Hey Larry. The bed almost went down as far as you see in our video, and only contacted that rail at the very end. If you removed the railing, it would complete the power fold out with the slide in.
But what I didn’t point out in our video is that the bottom part of the sofa also folds up to complete the bed. With the slide in, I don’t think that part would fit, even with the railing removed. Understandably, we didn’t remove the railing and try it at the show. Without that extra bit, the bed would be pretty short, but perhaps ok for kids, or if you wanted to sleep curled up.
